feliz año, everyone.

2 01 2010

For breakfast I had a bagel with spinach-and-artichoke cream cheese. For lunch, crackers and herbed chevre. I think for dinner I ought to have pita and tzatziki, just to round out my international-breads-with-spiced-spreads January 1st. However, no tzatziki in the house. And I hate tzatziki.

Where was I? January 1st always feels like a reset button. Not because I make resolutions, or because the year is different. No, it’s because it’s usually the first day since Thanksgiving when I do absolutely fucking nothing. And you know what? Sloth is restorative. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

But I’m wondering if anyone out there actually made resolutions. I have a few:

  1. Drink more water. (As in, enough water. I’m hydrophobic, I think. I’m worried I’m going to get kidney stones or something.)
  2. Be less critical of other people. Except when it’s funny. Or everyone else is doing it. No, wait, that’s not right. No exceptions. This also means standing up for people when others are being hyperbolically or unnecessarily critical.
  3. Finish more projects. I think electronic to-do lists are the answer here, and I’m giving it a shot.

Anybody else?
